What will your drain cleaning cost?

Drain pricing depends on which drain is blocked, how far down the line the clog sits, and what's actually causing it. Pick the options that match your situation — we'll show the time on site and job scope, then a licensed plumber provides a detailed written quote.

single drain

More than one slow or blocked drain usually points to a main line problem rather than separate fixture clogs — worth confirming with a camera.

Know The Signs

When a clog is more than a clog

Most blockages are simple. These six are the ones that mean the problem is further down the line — and worth checking properly.

stacked_line_chart

Several drains clog at once

When the toilet, tub and sink back up together, the blockage is in the main line — not in any single fixture. Clearing fixtures one at a time won't fix it.

graphic_eq

Gurgling from other drains

If the toilet bubbles when the washing machine drains, air is trapped behind a partial blockage downstream. That blockage is growing.

repeat

It clears, then clogs again

A snake punches a hole through the clog. Grease, scale or roots left on the pipe wall catch debris again within weeks — the cause was never removed.

water_damage

Water backs up in odd places

Running the upstairs sink and seeing the tub or floor drain rise is a classic main line signature. Wastewater is taking the lowest exit.

air

Sewer gas smell indoors

A rotten odor near drains can mean a dried trap, a cracked pipe or a blocked vent. It's worth investigating rather than masking with cleaner.

grass

Soggy or extra-green yard patch

Wastewater leaking into soil acts as fertilizer. One unusually lush stripe across the lawn often marks where the line is broken or blocked.

emergency_home

Sewage backing up right now?

Stop running water and hold off on the washing machine and dishwasher — every gallon you send down has to come back up. Keep people and pets out of the affected room. Raw sewage is a health hazard, so don't wait it out.

Your Options

Snaking vs. hydro jetting vs. camera

All three are legitimate tools. The right one depends on what's actually blocking your pipe — which is why we diagnose before we quote.

plumbing

Snaking

Mechanical clear

A cable with a cutting head is fed through the drain to break up the blockage and pull it back out.

  • check_circleFastest and lowest-cost option
  • check_circleIdeal for hair, soap and single-fixture clogs
  • check_circleNo water pressure or mess involved
  • remove_circlePokes a hole rather than cleaning the walls

Best for: a one-off clog in a sink, tub or toilet.

water_damage

Hydro Jetting

Pressure scour

High-pressure water scours the entire inside diameter of the pipe, flushing debris out of the line entirely.

  • check_circleRestores near-full pipe diameter
  • check_circleRemoves grease, sludge, scale & roots
  • check_circleLasts far longer than a snake clear
  • remove_circleCosts more; needs a sound pipe to be safe

Best for: repeat clogs, grease-coated lines and root intrusion.

videocam

Camera Inspection

Diagnosis

A waterproof camera is run through the line and recorded, showing the exact cause, location and pipe condition.

  • check_circleRemoves all guesswork from the quote
  • check_circleSpots bellies, cracks and root intrusion
  • check_circleYou see the footage yourself
  • remove_circleDiagnostic only — doesn't clear anything

Best for: repeat clogs and confirming the line before a big repair.

Frequently Asked Questions

Drain cleaning costs depend on which drain is blocked, how far down the line the clog sits, and whether the problem is a single fixture trap or the main sewer line. A simple fixture clog is a quick visit, while a main line blockage requiring a camera inspection and hydro jetting costs considerably more. Access matters too — a drain behind a wall or under a slab takes longer to reach. We offer free, no-obligation estimates so you know the exact cost before we begin.

Hydro jetting uses high-pressure water to scour the full inside diameter of the pipe, removing grease, scale, sludge and tree roots rather than just poking a hole through them. Snaking is often enough for a simple hair or soap clog in a single fixture. Hydro jetting is the better choice when a clog keeps returning, when grease has coated the pipe walls, or when roots have intruded into the line. We recommend it only when the pipe is sound enough to handle it — never as a default upsell.

A clog that returns within weeks is a symptom, not the problem. The usual causes are grease coating the pipe walls, a partial root intrusion, a bellied or sagging section of pipe that traps debris, scale buildup inside older cast iron, or a flushed item lodged further down the line. Snaking clears the immediate blockage but leaves the cause in place, which is why the problem comes back. A camera inspection identifies the real cause so the repair is permanent.

We recommend against it. Caustic chemical cleaners rarely clear a real blockage, they can damage PVC pipes and older metal fittings, and they leave caustic residue in the standing water that our technician then has to work in. The heat they generate can also warp pipe joints. If you've already used one, please tell us when you call so we can take proper precautions. A mechanical clear is safer for your plumbing and far more effective.

Never pour grease or cooking oil down the kitchen sink — wipe pans with a paper towel and bin it instead. Use drain screens in showers and tubs to catch hair. Avoid flushing anything besides toilet paper, including wipes marketed as flushable. Run hot water down the kitchen drain after heavy use, and have the line professionally cleaned every few years if your home has older cast iron or a history of root problems.
