Plenty of companies will jet anything you pay them to. These six findings mean jetting is the wrong tool — and we'll tell you so rather than take your money for a job that ends in an excavation.
The pipe is Orangeburg
Tar-paper pipe from the 1940s–70s softens and blisters under load. Jetting it at pressure can blow the wall out. If the camera shows Orangeburg, we'll talk replacement instead.
The line is collapsed
A crushed or fully offset section has no bore left to clean. No amount of pressure restores a pipe that isn't there.
There's a belly in the line
A sagging section holds standing water where solids settle out. Jetting clears this month's blockage; the low spot refills next season.
Cast iron that's delaminating
Severely corroded iron can shed scale in sheets that then jam downstream. Descaling needs the right head and pressure, judged on camera first.
Roots have taken the whole line
Roots at every joint mean every seal has failed. Cutting them clears today's backup and guarantees the next one — the pipe needs replacing.
There's a broken or offset joint

But the honest answer is that the number matters far less than matching pressure to the pipe. PVC takes full pressure; clay joints and older cast iron need it dialed back; Orangeburg often shouldn't be jetted at all. That's why we camera the line first rather than quoting a pressure figure as if it were a selling point.
It depends entirely on condition, which is why we look before we jet. Sound PVC is ideal. Clay is fine but the joints need lower pressure. Cast iron can be descaled but severely corroded iron can shed scale in sheets.
